Welcome to the official web-site of International Dance Sport Association
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of IDSA Presidium I would like to sincerely welcome you on official web-site of IDSA.
IDSA is created with the aim to develop and popularize dancesport and to achieve these purposes it suggests the format of maximum open participation in all official IDSA competitions. New open format of conduction of official IDSA competitions means that all the competitions are adjudicated only by adjudicators with International license of World Dance Council. The participation in all competitions is open for all dance couples who wish to. The prize money are always present. The membership in IDSA for all organizations and dance couples which wish to join is also open and without any restrictions in quantity.
I express my hope that new open format of conduction of official IDSA competitions will assist development of dancesport on the grounds of general availability, highly qualified estimation and objective definition of results of the competitions.
I invite everybody who wish to take part in the work of IDSA and in dancesport competitions which are conducted under aegis of IDSA.

Qualifying Event for the World Professional Ballroom Championship 2012 announced
Dear Competitors,
The WDC would like to inform and announce that the 2012 World Professional Ballroom Championship will be held in an exciting new "Open" format, which allows 24 couples to qualify to compete in addition to the nominated couples of the respective countries and 3 Wildcard nominations according to the WDC World Ranking.
These 24 selected couples will compete at their own expense in this World Championships, held in the Wintergardens, Blackpool , on the 18th November 2012, organised by the Ballroom Dancers' Federation (BDF).
The BDF have chosen to use the Star Professional Ballroom Championship taking place in London on Wednesday 11th January 2012 as the OPEN qualifying round and the first 24 couples will be qualifying to take part in addition to the nominated couples from each country and the Wildcards. For avoidance of any doubt, that means that those nominated or wildcard couples will not count towards those 24 qualifying places.
All Professionals take note… this is your chance to dance in The WDC World Professional Championship 2012… but this is the ONLY Qualifying Round, there will be no other opportunity. See The Star Championships 2012 page for entry details via the following link. CLICK HERE

PRESS RELEASE WDC – JUNE 2011 - German Open no longer part of WDC World Super Series
It is with great sadness we inform you that the Professional Championships at
the German Open Championships (Stuttgart) will no longer be part of the world
renowned WDC World Super Series. This will surely be very disappointing to
those visitors to the GOC who , for many years have enjoyed the performances
of the Worlds Best Professional dancers, the competitors of the WDC.
The contract between GOC and the World Dance Council was terminated
following the decision of the GOC to limit entries to the Professional
Championships by entering into an agreement with the IDSF Professional
Division. This occurred despite the long-standing mutual co-operation between
the Professional organisation of Germany (DPV) and Amateur Organisation of
Germany (DTV).
We would urge everyone reading this press release to inform all competitors and
members of the Dance fraternity that the best Professional Competitors will no
longer be taking part in Stuttgart which will surely diminish the value of these
formerly great championships.

WORLD DANCE COUNCIL & WDC AMATEUR LEAGUE JOIN WADA ANTI DOPING
The President and Presidium of the World Dance Council are pleased to announce that, after many months of discussion and contact between both organisations, they have now completed negotiations with the World Anti Doping Agency. They have agreed a programme suitable for those involved in competitive dance based on the WADA Anti Doping Rules and these rules will be integrated into the constitution of the Council and the competition rules of the WDC Amateur League.
The WDC has long and indisputably supported the principle and ethics of the Agency. Doping in any form has not been not acceptable in competitive activities for the WDC and WDC AL and especially not when ballroom dancing as a competitive discipline was concerned. The position, the values, the ethics, of the WDC have been reiterated many times over and to all bodies involved in dance. The World Dance Council are pleased to announce that they have now completed formal negotiations with the WADA and all those now involved in the competitive discipline of dance will in the future be subject to the limitations and requirements of the programme agreed with the WADA.
The World Dance Council have received from their Belgian Member the following Press Release.
The loyalty and solidarity with the World Dance Council and the great efforts they make for all dancers whether Professional or Amateur is an example to all who care about their Profession.

In the Ballroom Championships & Latin Championships the 5 dances shall be performed without interruption.
Proposed addition to 1.5.4
In all Ballroom and Latin Championships one dance in each round shall be limited to the Basic Figures listed in the currently recognised Technique Books applicable to each style. The dances shall be drawn at random at the commencement of the competition by the Chairman of Adjudicators.
